Becoming a Member of first You belong here — and we’d love to welcome you more fully into the life of our church.
At First Presbyterian Church of Savannah, becoming a member means saying yes to a shared journey of faith, community, and service. As a member, you’re not just joining a church — you’re joining a family rooted in love, grace, and commitment to Christ.
Why Membership MattersMembership is a way to deepen your connection to God and to this faith community. It’s an opportunity to:
- Grow spiritually through worship, study, and prayer
- Serve others with compassion and purpose
- Build relationships and support one another
- Share your time, talents, and resources in meaningful ways
- Help shape the ministry and future of the church
Who Can Join?Everyone is welcome — whether you’re new to church, coming from another congregation, or returning to your faith journey after time away. We receive new members by:
- Profession of Faith and Baptism (if you’ve never been baptized)
- Reaffirmation of Faith (if you’ve been away from church for a while)
- Transfer of Letter (if you’re a member of another Christian church)

Growing in Faith, Rooted in Love!
Evangelism Committee Chair: Gay Gunter
As Chair of the Evangelism Committee, it has been my joy and calling to help welcome those who come through our church doors in search of a community rooted in Christ’s love. Serving in this role has given me the opportunity to meet many individuals and families who are visiting for the first time, often longing for a place of connection, worship, and belonging. It is truly a gift to witness how a warm greeting, a listening ear, or a thoughtful invitation can plant seeds of faith and friendship.
This past spring, our committee had the privilege of walking alongside several visitors as they began to explore what it means to worship, grow, and serve with us here at First Presbyterian. Through gentle guidance and open conversations, we were able to help newcomers understand our worship practices, feel comfortable in our traditions, and ultimately discern where God is calling them. Many of these visitors have now taken the meaningful step of becoming members of our congregation.
As we look ahead, I invite each of you to join us in the spirit of welcome. Whether by introducing yourself to someone new in the pew, sharing your own faith journey, or simply offering a smile, you are part of the ongoing ministry of hospitality and inclusion. Let us continue to be a congregation that opens its doors and hearts with grace.
