Johnathan Scott Barrett
Johnathon is a seventh-generation Georgian with a deep appreciation for the history, foodways, and culture of the South. His first book, Rise and Shine!, is a food memoir spanning several decades of Southern farm-to-table traditions. In his second book, Cook & Tell, Barrett narrates another delicious culinary sojourn across Dixie where he includes not only his own entertaining stories and meaningful recipes, but also those of friends met along the way.
The author’s latest work, Cook & Celebrate: A Collection of Southern Holiday and Party Traditions, explores through stories and more than 150 recipes the tastes and traditions of the South. Many of those memories shared take place in Savannah and the Low Country, which was Johnathon’s home for more than three decades. Professionally Johnathon is a CPA and nonprofit executive; he currently serves as director of development for the State Botanical Garden at the University of Georgia. Besides his time in the kitchen and garden, Johnathon also loves to travel, good bourbon, and when he gets the chance – fishing. |
