Dr. Stephen Williams
Stephen Williams was called as minister to First in 1994 after serving congregations in California, New Jersey and Tennessee. He has served as moderator of Savannah Presbytery and commissioner to General Assembly and is active in several organizations in the city. He was awarded a Merrill Fellowship for study at Harvard Divinity School in 2003 and appointed a Guthrie Scholar at Columbia Theological Seminary in 2011. He is married to Claire Ervin Williams and they have three daughters and a grandson.
Director of Christian Education
Allison oversees the Christian Education Ministry at First Presbyterian. She leads faith formation programs with children, youth and adults including Sunday School, youth group, Bible studies and special events. She recently joined our staff after serving in churches in Johns Creek, Georgia and Aiken, South Carolina. She is a life long Presbyterian, certified Christian Educator and ordained ruling elder. She joins us with her husband, Chap and son. She enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling and is looking forward to being closer to the beach.
DIRECTOR OF MUSIC AND ORGANIST
Jeff Lewis serves as our Organist and Director of Music. He has enjoyed a successful fifty-year career as a church musician and concert organist, having built large church music programs in Georgia, Kentucky and North Carolina. He holds BA and MA degrees in organ performance and played two concerts on our Schlueter pipe organ shortly after its installation.
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF MUSIC
Barbara manages all aspects of accounting for the church. She works directly with the minister and the chair of the the financial committee to forecast, budget and report all financial transactions. Barbara has been in this position with First Presbyterian Church since 1995. She was born and raised in Savannah and grew up in Ardsley Park. She now makes her home in Effingham County with her husband, Mark and daughter, Kayla.
Mallory is the support person for the minister and staff. She oversees the day to day administrative work of the church office. She is the liason for all service groups and support groups that meet at First. A native of Savannah, GA, she has returned home after living in Sarasota, FL for 25 years. Mallory is married to Phillip. They have four children and waiting on grandchildren.
Hope Johnson Boyd is our Sexton and responsible for the custodial maintenance and setup for all events on the church campus, for arranging room and equipment setups for outside groups, and also oversees the kitchen, custodial supplies, and equipment.
